WFAO Shanghai Meeting Declaration.
1. We would like to express our gratitude to the Shanghai Authorities and
the Shanghai City Symphony Orchestra for organizing the first WFAO meeting
in China in such splendid environment.
2. WFAO appreciates the foundation of the Shanghai City Symphony Orchestra
as part of the Cao Peng Music Center as an important contribution to an
integrated economic and cultural development WFAO expresses its hope that
this amateur orchestra should become the nucleus of an amateur orchestra network in China.
3. WFAO wishes to express its desire to cooperate in an active and positive
manner to support the activities of the Shanghai 2010 Expo. By our participation
in this event WFAO wishes to advance the aims of a mutual understanding
and cooperation through our shared appreciation and devotion to the universal language of music in a globalised world
4. Again this year representatives of many countries have attended our
meeting hereby consolidating the international exchanges that allow us
to share musical understanding, instruments, scores and leadership with
youth and adult musicians all over the world. WFAO intends to assist, support
and promote these activities to the best of its abilities with the primary
focus centered on member orchestras within the Federation that are most
in need.
5. WFAO members are committed to these goals and are determined to expand
the scope of their actions through increased international exchanges between
member organizations.
This Declaration is adopted as the common message of the WFAO at the conclusion of the Shanghai Meeting.
